Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. A combination of techniques are used. The strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is one of the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, chronic pain, tension and soreness. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time, but the results are definitely worth it.  Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more complaints can be eased with a remedial treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage

A form of soft tissue therapy that utilises specific techniques to help reset muscles and rehabilitate performance based injuries. Treatment using Sports Massage can help anyone with soft tissue problems ranging from back strains from lifting children, rehabilitation from skiing injuries to RSI from playing an instrument or using a computer mouse all day. Sports Massage is a really effective way of relieving pain and discomfort for any muscle or soft tissue based injury

Swedish Massage

A therapeutic massage, using light to medium pressure to relieve stress, reduce pain, boost mood and promote relaxation of the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

What to expect

Before treatment, I will provide a full consultation, asking you various questions about your health and lifestyle, to ensure treatment is right for you. Most massage treatments take approximately an hour, though a ‘back, neck and shoulder’ massage may take between 30 to 45 minutes.

Treatments take place on a massage table. Where treatment involves directly massaging your skin, a nourishing oil or wax-based product will generally be used to provide a free-flowing massage, and a sheet carefully placed to ensure your modesty and keep you warm and comfortable throughout the treatment.

Whatever type of massage you are having, I will advise you of what to expect before the
treatment begins and give you advice on what to expect after the treatment.

Massage is a complementary therapy and should not be used in place of conventional medical care.
Always consult a GP or other health professional for medical attention and advice.
